What is going on with Valuablehost?

What exactly is ValuableHost doing? I get the impression he isn't putting in extra hours to get the work done. I get the impression he is doing hardly anything.

I got an e-mail yesterday saying that he would dump my database (of course he had to ask for my db username and password), but of course, I still have not had my db dumped in. Luckily, I figured out (thanks to jbiz) how to upload my files last night and they are ready, but my site is 100% database dependent so I'm still down.

I understand that.
Then can I hire you to fix my site?
If you can do it for a reasonable price I can send you money via PayPal.

I don't know about the other users here, but I want someone who is competent enough to help me with these support issues.

I joined in August and paid for the whole year, I don't want to lose my money right now by switching to another host.

Ok, I'm not serious right now about hiring you Joe, but if it turns like you are interested in this idea I would certainly consider it.

Help

Well we are just helping our client out.

We would not want to interfer with anything.

Overall, if you seriously need that bad of help we can look into it, but we have alot of work usually.

I am so glad I came across these forums while VH's are unavailable.

I'm on the V5 plan and have heard nothing in the way of mailings out that my friend (who's on a lower plan) has - he has been forwarding them to me.

The most recent one on Saturday:

If you own a namebased site with us, meaning your hosting package ranges from valuable-1 to valuable-4 your site is on the new server. For IP-Based accounts, please allow another 24-48 hours for your sites to be moved. Please respond to this e-mail if you own a name-based site with your domain
name.

So I'm IP (V5) account - Now the CGI has been down on my site/forum since yesterday and intermittently comes and goes (seems to go more often). I don't want to sound like a broken record but another email from one of my members and I'll scream!!

Can anyone confirm this is also affecting them? I've taken to putting up a custom error 500 message to try and make people aware but their patience is wearing a bit thin (I think they think I turn on these errors just to annoy them).

I had an absolute rotten time with my previous host and was hoping for a bit of plain sailing! So basically, is the CGI purposely down? (HTML pages are fine) and are arrangements being made to move V5 hosted sites over to the new server.

Also, (one last thing!), what is the deal with the default Plesk page on many transferred sites? Surely the sites have been copied over file-by-file and have been set up to run as soon as DNS nameserver settings have been updated?
Is it recommended to change the first nameserver to ns.valuablehost.net and the 2nd to ns.valuablehost.com in order to provide as smooth a transition as possible?

Any help/comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Asa

You and I are in the same boat because we have the V-5 plan. You just have to wait in anger just like I am doing now until XXXXXXXX hours for them to do their thing.

I have received nothing from them except a rise in my blood pressure.

Joe,

You said that I can email you so that you can help but unfortunately my back ups for my site is in my laptop and because I am on vacation, I don't have my laptop with me to upload my files. I will have to sit on my butt and wait for "Un-valuablehost.com" to transfer all of my files over.

I don't get this. Joe has been providing support while HostExp is no where in site. Where the heck did he go?

Is anyone elses email not working?

Mines been down for about 12 hours now; now I have no email, and no site.

By the end of today ie 12pm tonight CST those should be completed

Well, I assume the board time here is similar or the same as to your time... and the board time now says it is 9pm or so... does this mean I will have my account info within the next few hours??

It's me who should thank you for doing that Magic2k2.
Copy it anywhere you want.

And thanks for giving credits!

Hmm

Just so you know:

Toefur that is talking about the IP based being created and configured, that does not mean your emails will be there.

Please keep my context correctly stated, as I am helping ...

Joe

Sorry, I should have been more clear... that's what I meant.

Anyway, seeing how I do have an IP account, will it be ready for me to access within the next few hours?

They will

They will be created and configured tonight.

I cant make any current promises other then by tommorow at 12pm CST you will have your log in info.

If you contact me directly later, i possibly could get you that

Joe

Thank goodness there is this forum

I am so glad to see that I am not suffering alone. I am also on the V5 plan and Im getting so upset that my site has been dead for like 2 weeks nearly!! I am getting sick of this so much.
Can we receive like a month's worth of money back for this or what?
Well thank goodness i am not a business or I'd be totally screwed.
Vhost, I know you have been pretty good so far but this is absolutely ridiculous. Im so frustrated right now. Why keep emailing us and getting our hopes up and them dashing them?
I really truly hope tomorrow morning I have a website up.
