What is going on with Valuablehost?

I'm not aiming this question in any particular person's direction but I was wondering when my files were copid onto the new server. I have a pretty active forum (if I do say so myself...) and wonder at what point it was done.

I know the email that I will shortly receive will say:


"Dear ValuableHost Clients,

As most of you know, ValuableHost has been migrating from a Ensim based server to a Plesk based server. The move is nearing completion we require all clients to change their nameservers to:
ns.valuablehost.net 209.120.131.65
ns2.valuablehost.net 209.120.131.66
Nameservers take 24-48 hours to fully propogate, once your domain has propogated, please e-mail support@valuablehost.com with the subject "Account Activation" also provide your domain name and please note in the e-mail if you want ValuableHost to move your files and databases for your account to the new server. Once we recieve your e-mail we will activate your account on the new server, please note that you have to e-mail us before the 20th of this month. Sorry for any inconveniences caused with this move, the move should definetly be a large improvement to the Ensim control panel."

Now, couple of points about that - surely people's html pages, cgi scripts etc.. etc.. have all been copied onto the new server as a matter of course?

Also, the CGI is again down on the old server - it was working around midday (UK) but has since collapsed. Support haven't replied to me though. Maybe a announcements/service status page when the VH site returns?

I know that you are able to give me the account info sooner but that would not help me much because I don't have the back up files with me right now to upload anything. It would still be useless even if I have the account info now. The thing that I really need is that the old files to still be there so that I can change some of the paths to the scripts so that it would work properly.

That is why I am hoping very much for the old files to be there. Meaning that HostExp has kept his promise to move the file over the the new server.

That is all I want.

All I want is to have a good host so that my site will be viewable.

I don't need any fancy Control Panel

I was content with the Ensim panel earlier. My site works fine. No problem. Nothing at all....until now. :(
 
To everyone that have received your account info:


I need to ask all of you something:

When you are able to access your account, did you see your old files there? Did HostExp kept his word and transfer your files over to the old host?

I was in contact with ValuableHost on ICQ last night.
We weren't able to restore my forums.

I have come to the conclusion that I will have to do a fresh install of iB3 and will ask my members to register back.

Can't wait for a solution that won't come.
 
IB3? Is is because of all the database stuff?

Surely they can simply move the .cgi/.thd/.pl files over or at least give you enough time to download them through FTP and reupload them on the new server?

Starting from scratch simply isn't an option for me!

Starting from scratch IS NOT an option for me. What exactly went wrong? Did he lose your database or is your forum file-based and he lost that? How did he lose this stuff?
 
Nothing has been losed.
It's just not working, I get some permissions problems.

I know my members will understand, I can't just wait indefinitely to found a solution. That's what I choosed. I have wasted enough time to get it working, without success.

Also, what's the path to sendmail on the new server?

I don't know much about the forum you use, but mine uses the database. So....do you have your database back? And, if so, please tell me how you got it back. Thanks.
 
Ok weird thing is that I can get into the new CP with my username and password. I can't upload files or download but it's definitely all my info.
I can't FTP at all though. Im gonna wait till VHost emails me and then see if this works. I don't get why I cannot ftp though.
 
Magic2K2: Ikonboard is not using MySQL database (although it will in future versions). It use DB database. I did a back-up before the server move.

snakebite: Contact ValuableHost by ICQ at number 116870936 and ask him to configure hosting for you on the new server.

Also, does anyone know the path to sendmail?
 
How do I turn webmail back on for my domain, anyone?

I see it is working with a bunch of other peoples domains, and it used to work with mine, but stopped the other day. Now in my control panel it says it is turned off.

It also says in my control panel that SSI support is not on... do I need to get VHost to turn it on for me?????

ssi is off on my account also. i don't think we have the permissions to turn it back on yet. and that really sucks because almost all my scripts use it so i'm still dead in the water.
