Update: Stalling / Page Not Loading

The site has always worked fine for me, though I havent used it much recently.

the odd time i get a DNS error after posting.

Im on a 28.8k so i guess i wouldnt be lying to you if I said it was always slow

I wasnt aware of any stalling, But today it's been extremly slow and ive had to refresh pages four or five times to get them to load if a thread has more than 8 posts in it.

yeah thats what i want to know as well, the specs like that, and how much space/bandwith it is using.

I've noticed that it has been stalling for the last few weeks... still no improvements now..

Apache/1.3.14(Unix)
Actually if you check the announcement you'll see the main changes have been for Windows and not for FreeBSD. http://www.apache.org/dist/httpd/Announcement.html

When it involves security issues that impact us we upgrade immediately as we've done with past kernel upgrades, the last PHP upgrade, and others. Otherwise if it isn't broke don't fix it. :)

DialTone is aware of their network issue and are working to fix it. Apache has nothing to do with the problem. Regardless though once we test it's stability on our test box all systems will receive the Apache upgrade. Latest isn't always best and in fact often latest means you are the bug tester. :)

Eeeeh...since you are quoting me... I joked about them being lazy for not checking around a little. I got the data from the http headers the server is sending.

you talk to me meow? I wasn't asking about the webserver software, but the OS. I figured it was either unix/linux..

Tha lazy part? YEAH! I know you asked about the OS. That's why I said Unix. That's as close as I got. :p

Sorry, didn't realize that was sarcastic. :D

Well DialTone is aware of the problem and working on it. I'm going to lock the thread as that is the latest update and the reports were enough to determine that the problem wasn't just kernel related.

I'll leave it sticky for now so people don't start a new thread asking about it. Thanks for all your reports and traceroutes, it's appreciated.

We've replaced the Cisco switch and as far as I can tell it appears to have taken care of it. It's not so much about the speed of the site as it is the stalling of the site. Where you have to submit a message two or more times and such. This may not have fixed it, it's to early to tell so if you experience the problems please post here. Thanks.

Thanks for the reports everyone. I believe it has been fixed based on the responses here and via PM so I'm making this thread unsticky.
