Hi StaticHost,

Just wanted to say that our site and CMS have been down since 8.00 GMT. We understand that your data center is in the midst of server upgrades and fixes. I'm sure vsl on the proton server at statichost will be back up soon. Again, thanks for all the help you've been providing VSL with, that's greatly appreciated. Good luck with everything and hope it all works out fine. We pray for life. :)

umm.
Why haven't we received anything via email? Ok, if you can't supply passwords for logging in just yet then how about an email just telling us you are working on it!
Why do you lay yourself open to critisism on here when you could avoid most of it by simply keeping us informed via email? You couldn't last time because you didn't have a mailing list independant of your server but surely lessons learned??
 
Down AGAIN

They are down again:angry2::angry2: and this time also without any information, Now I have decided for not coutinuing with them they said 24/7 support from the past 24 Hrs. I had not got any reply from them on Yahoo or in this forum :doh!: This is no way t do buisness, first time I was having sympathy with them but not this time. POOR...POOR....... :angry2:
 
Stop telling them what to do. If you are so smart why dont u go an open a hosting company. I posted the above expecting an answer, and since i didnt get one, maybe they are busy... [btw i am pissed] :p lol

Yeah down again, I sure hope it isn't serious. LUCKILY I managed to find a backup which was several months old that could be restored restore, if i hadn't found that I was told my vBulletin was beyond repair due to their backups being corrupt.

I spent the majority of yesterday updating and maintaining the old backup to get it looking anything like the site that was originally their before they messed up. I was willing to let it go and put it down to the "Mistakes happen" blah blah but recently my website merged with another websites, resulting in them closing their website so understandably they are not happy at all.

Does anyone know how they are going to compensate their clients because it is just not on. :shame:
 
it is getting a bit long in the tooth, have sent an e mail and like Rooney I lost verything, I had a phpbb and we were running quite well.

Well it certainly looks like they have!
I am not prepared to sit around waiting to find out. I need my sites up and running and communication as to whether or not that is going to happen and when.
Since i cannot get answers, they have left me little choice but to seek other hosting alternatives which is going to not only cost me money, but hours of work having to upload and reconfigure my databases.
I feel let down and Steve if you look in here, being a decent chap will only get you so much leniency and patience, if you can't communicate with your clients on a professional and regular basis then you leave people no choice but to take their business elsewhere.

No they shouldn't, as this is not Statichost's fault, it is the datacenter's putting an bad stick of RAM in the server.

I am not going to move webhosts, as i have been with Statichost since September 2004, and i still have every hope in Statichost that they will be back online soon.

They are very much responsible for the lack of information / communication, it's the one thing they can do for their members, and they just disappear.
Very bad move for a business where your only source of income are your members...
I really felt bad for them since they seemed to be doing their best but now it just looks like they abandoned the whole thing.

well lets be honest maybe there is nothing else they can do except sit and wait. Every now and then we need a day off and maybe they ahve been working around the clock to solve all the issues. I dont think they would abandon their customers somehow.

A bit niave isn't it? of couse there is something they can do! they can tell there customers what is happening.
Who the hell takes a day off when their business is going down the pan!
The downtime maybe be excusable but the lack of communication isn't.
Unless I am mistaken there is 2 of them and not one can be found.

I hate givin ultimatums but unless they communicate with me soon then i will have to assume they no longer are in service and will start to recover my payment.
The way i see it, at least i am communicating with them and telling them my intentions
 
I'm not trying to give an ultimatum either, but we really have few options other than looking into alternative hosting; this is getting beyond a joke.

I really hope that statichost sort it out and let us all know what's going on. It certainly sounds like a change of datacentre might be in order, but that's up to them.

If my site's not back tomorrow, along with a decent explanation of what's been going on, and what Steve & Anthony plan to do about it, I'm going to have to go to plan B.

Good luck getting yourselves back on track statichost - I really want to give you the benefit of the doubt, but please give us a reason to believe!

I thought you made it clear that you are using pipex, so go talk about them or smth.
 
I known the people at StaticHost for a while know and still trust them and belive they will sort this, even so the two owners never seem to come online witch is not like them :confused4

I don't normally reply to idiotic children who need educating but just this once sinse he has flamed me ( admin take note)
If you want to defend them then do so, your decision but do not quote me or offer me advice since you have no idea what you are talking about.

Secondly, if you read my post it isn't about staying or going it's about paying for a service i do not receive which is between me and them and without doubt none of your business.
If this forum is my only medium to relay my message to them then so be it.

Thirdly, and try to follow this. They have not communicated anything since 12th July, now think for one minute and ask yourself why that would be!
Do you think they have had their pcs stolen?
or maybe they've gone to meet the queen to get their knighthoods?
or maybe jusy maybe, they have shut up shop. Their last downtime probably lost them so much business they couldn't afford another downtime episode and here we are! Some of us waiting for an answer you're not going to receive.
I might also add that this thread is somewhat quiet lately, why? because the grownups know it's flogging a dead horse and have left the building.

Statichost, I served you warning of my intentions and will now carry my intentions out.
