interesting about all 4 letter GK domains...

Basically, I don't think you're allowed to just take his domain and use it. Like what if you used it to point to some porn/warez/crack site? Then if the FBI or whatever finds out, the guy who owns the domain will be in big trouble, and so will the people who used his domains.

Not that I care if you get a phone call from the CIA or whatever... :rolleyes: Just keep in mind that this isn't exactly legal...

What the owner of these domains has done is called "lame delegation".
He used the names of name servers in his domainapplications but then didn't set up zone files for them.
This is considered bad practice for a number of reasons, nit least because it allows whoever has access to those name servers to control where the name points.

oh LeX, i wouldn't use if for porn or warez. just for games and d/ls. maybe some roms using GMBY.com.

you can't say its so illegal.

GordonH-does that mean its legal/illgegal, or just a bad mistake?
 
Lame delegation is considered bad practice because it means that requests for DNS info go unanaswered and other people can potentially get control of your domains.

I never suggested that you would actually use it for porn or warez, I was saying that *if* somebody was to use it for illegal purposes... well, actually, just using somebody else's domain without consent and agreement itself is illegal too.

There's nothing I'm going to do to prevent you from using them, I'm just warning you of the possibilities.
 
I got this reply from Mydomain.com. Apparently until the owner of the domain doesn't object , it's legit

This is not a security issue. Anyone can add whichever domain they like to their account. If they are the correct owner, then so much the better.

If the owners wish to use our forwarding service, and can't add the domain because someone else added it to their own account, we will do a quick confirmation check, and move the domains to the correct accounts.

Since we support ALL ICANN domains, it would be impossible to have an automatic system check who is allowed to add which domain to their account. The reason for this being, that a lot of different registrars maintain poor and uninformative whois databases, which can not be queried.
