Antivirus Softwares

Norton Systemworks 2005 (best defragmentizer EVER made) SB Search and Destroy. Adaware. Microsoft and Norton Firewall (synchronized). Internet Worm Protection DW6000 modem (firewalled). I work on peoples bugged up computers so I have to ahve it so when they plug into my network they infect nothing else. and never has once something been able to break this awsome barrier. :D

I use:
AVG for the virus'
Ad-Aware SE Professional and Xoftware for spyware:D
They a good team:p

Norton/Symantec is good. Yes, they slow down your puter a bit, but that's life. The best way to avoid viruses is to be more careful where you go. You can visit porn sites regularly (or accidentally if you prefer), just make sure they are good/clean ones. :D

When visiting porn using Firefox, and set security to ask you about every cookie and active X controller. Combine that with my awsome securities I mentioned above. Inpenatrible :D

each anti virus has its own unique capabilites.. when some miss something others can catch.. so its better to have multiple antivirus / spyware available.. i currently have norton / mcafee and i occationally scan my pc with trendmicro .. i used avg in the past .. but i have to say i hate norton.. its slows my pc down and to me it doesnt seem like its doing something useful but taking up space :(.. then again i got it for free.. nothing beats free deals ..

I use AVG for anti-virus as well as Ad-Aware Free version for Spyware. One day when I used spybot and got rid of spyware, I had to use system restore via MS-DOS. :O

I was able to snag a couple free copies of a few different ones, namely Computer Associate's ezTrust and Trend Micro's (v 11) Pc-Cillin Anti-Virus.

I had opposite results. ezTrust is by far, one of the worst anti-virus applications I have myself ever touched, including norton's. Its not bloatware, its just "doest like to work"ware. I got their ezArmor package, which had their ezTrust antivirus and firewall. The firewall NEVER ONCE worked, everytime it said "error has occured' Yes, of course i reinstalled it and contact support, they were horribly dumb and basically told me I was out of luck. So I said forget that, just tried the anti-virus. Well, that never worked right either. Their support told me a newer version than the one that I got in the box is out, and that I should upgrade. Except the upgrade wasn't free, and I wasn't about to pay for an upgrade when I had to put out money to get it in the first place. I ended up complaining long enough until they eventually got me a free upgrade ;-) So I give them props there.

Either way, the Anti-Virus was horrible. SOOOo slow, crashed often, had horrible luck with it.

A few weeks later, I got the new version of Pc-Cillian for free (God, I love my job sometimes) and installed it, replacing the wounded ezTrust. Trend Micro's Pc-Cillian is amazing...its VERY fast, not bloaty at all!!!!! I love it, and have been using it for a few weeks with no problems.

Within the last week, I experimented with Anti-Vir. It worked good, but was very slow. At least I didn't have the problem running it in safe mode, when AVG simply refused.

Just my quick review over the last few weeks.

hi all,

i recently installed Avast and that gave me all sorts of errors.. so switched to AVG and its worked well so far..still using microsoft antispyware though :)

I use trend micro pc-chillin.
It works great! Its one of the best that i have ever used, and trust me i have used alot. if you are looking for a good security, i recommend trend micro pc-chillin.

hmmm i have not used pc-cillin for a long long time... didnt like its early editions... but recently i have heard and read a lot about it.. maybe i will give that a try during the weekend...
