I was wondering whether my socket 754 was worth it. Would you go for a Gigabyte mobo with nForce 3 (socket 939) for an extra dollar or stick with a 754 with a VIA chipset?

I would have just bite the dust and get the nForce4 with a Socket939.


IMO, Socket 754 isn't worth it.

just to mention that the entire system costed about ~$500 (and it was half a year ago), and would be even less if the rebates for the soyo mobo ever come.... ($75) waited till good deals with rebates to buy all the parts. i consider $500 already pretty nice with that processor and video card though... and 1gb ram.

excluding monitor because i just use my old one... which is a 17" viewsonic LCD still, not that bad.
