I am asking for this for my dad :classic2:

He currently runs a reasonably succesful personal website of his own travel photography www dot chanlun dot com

After aquainting a few friends in similar interests, they have decided on a big project, to compile the best of the best photos done around the world in a data base for a travel dot com website. Which will include photos, travel logs and related information.

He has told me to inquire about prices and offers available in terms of paid hosting.

his requirements are:
500Mb - 1Gb Space

At least 2G Bandwidth per month (photos will be around 125kb each)

Has to be reliable and be able to be accessed in most part of the world (i.e. no country bans)

in terms of technical requirements I have not too much clue yet but i guess the standard like php and mysql etc....

...if uptime and professional support are important (and if they have plans that fit your needs and budget). All companies have been in business for quite some time (years) and have great reputations. I have used the first two myself. You may pay more but I assure you they will be there in the long run and are not kiddie hosts.

If you truly will use that much disc space, you might want to find a plan that offers more bandwidth than 2 GB or at least a host that has other plans that will allow you to uprade in the future if need be.
