I think it's okay. Becuase the way I see it, the pun wasn't intended, but he figured it out afterwards and thought "hey that was clever, I'll make sure that other people realise that i was clever and it wasn't just a brainfart, so i'll add pun intended. but deep down they'll know really that it wasn't intended."
So the way I see it, the "pun intended" was merely an ironic statement of the Judge's. Therefore, perfeclty acceptable over maddox's -----ing.
But then again, I'm a little bit out of it. Prolly talking ----.
