The laptop has no floppy drive though. =/
 
Time to ask around to borrow one, or slipstream the drivers into your windows CD.

Laptops won't normally have RAID, is it maybe a strange SATA controller?

No thanks, I'll just continue using Ubuntu. However, Ubuntu says it can't mount media using my DVD Drive.
