Well, should I use 9kd.net, or stick with f2s while it lasts. Do you think 9kd is reliable? Any experiences. I am a cheap bastard, and don't want to spen over $30 a year on hosting.

seriously though,

come on... any service with unlimited space or bandwidth should be laughed at and kicked in the... And for $15/yr? 10 GB/month for $15/yr... stop your important work for a minute and think.

i've had good experiences with digitalspace.net (starter plan, $36/yr) although technics said they were crummy.

f2s is pretty crummy as well, but they are free... All a question about priorities and budgets, i guess.

digitalspace seems pretty cheap and they offer static IP as well...

how's the tech support at digitalspace.net? they got any support forums?

any problems with uptime?

Well I would only spend $15 bucks a year for hosting until I really need to upgrade.............

I would suggest www.34sp.com for their basic $15 a year plan ( you only get 400 MB of bandwidth though.). When you grow out of your budget then move on.

you want to pay no more than $30 a year and want reliable hosting?

how much space you want? and bandwidth i know someone who sells 25mb and 1gb bandwidth for $25 a year but its not commcercial and not me selling it either.

Well of course I would like that...I don't expect that. The thing is that I don't want to spend too much money. It's just a personal site. And currently I am not sure if I will continue it.

I only need about 30 MB max space, and probably less than 1 GB/month of bandwidth.

(my) SurferBeware.com is hosted with them. I've never gone there and have it time out on me. Then again, i don't often check multiple times daily, but i've probly gone there several hundred times still, so what's the odds?

The support may be a bit on the slower side, but it's never taken a question more than 2 days to be responded to. Usually is taken care in under a day.

Wait a minute,I'm confused. In an earlier post psx-dude started a thread saying he was needing a host but now says he is a host.Did I miss something?

Okay, I emailed 9kd.net with this message:
I am currently looking in to paid hosting for my personal
website. I have
only used free web hosting, but I would like a low
cost alternative that
has the features I want. 9kd.net easily meets my
needs for a host, but
I hesitate to sign up because it seems too good of
a deal for such a little
price. Similar plans cost upwards of $300 a
year, and you are offering
it for $15.99 a year. It makes me wonder how
you can offer such a great
deal. Also, features such as "unlimited
disk space" are hard to justify.
Many peole online who I have had contact
with would not recommend me trying
9kd.net. Here is what they have
said: "come on... any service with unlimited
space or bandwidth should be
laughed at and kicked in the... And for $15/yr?
10 GB/month for
$15/yr... stop your important work for a minute and think."
and "I won't
recommend 9kd.net at all." Also, I held a poll for the question
"Should I
use 9kd.net?" and 4 said "yes", and 7 said "no". Also, I would
like to
know if you plan on keeping the current price, or if it is an

introductory offer. Thank you.
And they responded:
The reason why we try to offer unlimited is because we are trying to be
nice to people. Some people who have voted may have a hosting company of
their own. We know how frustrating a limit on space can be. We have people
who are uploading hundreds of megs and we aren't complaining to them.

That's why we are going to start co-locating soon in July. We will keep
our current price.

Keep in mind though that this hosting is for webmasters
with tight budget. Before we started this hosting business, we were thinking
about opening up a free domain webhosting service. We've realized that
we wouldn't last a long time if we did. That's why we started a paid webhosting,
but it's for a very cheap price.

We're just trying to be nice to people
around the world. Giving them a chance to get a hosting.
We even have
12 year old peopel signing up because many other hosts are too expensive.

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask us.

Kind

John Lee
9kd.net

Took about 2 days. Don't sound too professional, I still haven't been completely convinced not to use them yet though.

I think you should use them. Just do it. I like people with that kind of responses.

response times

so what's the general rule here?A small company that responds to a request within 2 days is acceptable compared to a large company responding in 2 days?Or is it the larger company should respond quicker or maybe the smaller company?
