Is it ok for what it's for? I decided to avoid the design aspect, as for one I'm not good at it. And two, I just thought for what it is, it wouldn't be worth a great deal of time, learning CSS to a certain standard.

First try? Using html / xhtml...No. Just that my pages have always been simple...considering what it is for. But anyway thanks for posting. I've got the idea, someone may like it and some others won't. But the main reason is what content I have. Whether its any use to anyone or not.

I'd get rid of that background. If you're going after a simple webpage, you don't want to make it look tacky.

Really simple is perfectly fine, as long as you don't kid yourself.

Something that DOESN'T repeat. For example, use a single image that has been opacitied down a bit, and do the following in CSS:

BODY {
background-position: bottom right;
}
