When I'm uploading a small amount of files (less than 50 or so files) I go old school style and use MS DOS FTP.

Yup just run command.com then type:
ftp <your FTP site>
example: ftp ftp.yoursite.com

Though you gotta be careful, as images often get screwed up if you forget to turn binary mode on.

Or old good LeechFTP. No longer updated but it's still one of the best freeware FTP clients.

It's, imo, the best freeware ftp program. But I like that dos way top, thats so funny!

Its a perfectly fine FTP client.
I could care less if my FTP client is shiny or not, just as long as it works properly.

I personally find it a good alternative, and it eats very little resources.

I've been using AceFTP from www.visicommedia.com (actually, I found it through Bravenet). It took me a long time to find an FTP client that was actually freeware instead of a free 30-day trial. A lot of ones that I've seen recommended in various places are actually free trials not freeware.
