Free decent forum

Hi.
Anyone know where i can get a free decent forum (not ezboard or forums like delphi and that) but decent ones like ones here?

They have really done a lot with that version of phpBB (they optimized the code heavily to make it faster). It supports table prefixes (though there are a few query errors which will be fixed in the next release), and probably has every hack that phpBB Plus has. Even has an xml layer...

The free version isn't suitable for actually running a forum. More of a test thanngg.

i wouldn't use YaBB if i was you

I've heard stuff down the grape vine .. we'll ... its .. the windows 9x of forums / message boards ... if you get my meaning .. i don't wanna expand on this cos .. i have nothing to backup this apart from what i've heard ... stick with something like ikonboard ( once they release a full version ) or vBulletin.

Sounds like you don't really know what you're talking about. The only difference with YaBB is that it's perl-based rather than PHP-based. It's free and it's one of the best forums out there.

About Ikonboard, no need to wait for a "full version" as the current version works great.

I do .. however i heard it from some ppl i know .. so i could be true and it could be false .. i'm just saying what i've heard .. nothing more / nothing less ... and nothing in between.

it does look quite good. The buttons are identical to vB ones.

There are quite a few excellent seeming forums out there; How do I go about choosing the one right for me? no one seems to know which is the best.
