ENOUGH With the "free domain" requests!

Alright, I've really had enough of this. I've been a long time member of these boards and I'm honestly sick of seeing these "I need a free domain! I'll put ads, banners, hosting, etc" requests! The chances of you getting a free domain are none! No one else has actually received one before, and you will not receive one now. Quit trying.

Domains are cheap. $8.88, $8.75, less even. Get a job, ask your parents, mow a lawn, help an old lady across the street. You can get enough to pay the domain fees. Don't give us that "I can't get a job" :shame:.

Besides that, you need to spend money to make money :shocked2: What a concept! You actually need to SPEND money to make it? Yes. You do. You don't start a company by getting freebies. You need to be able to take a risk and spend some cash to get yourself started.
If you aren't a company, well then, do as I said before, make the money.

Now, of course, I'm not going to post this without backing it up with some information. Below is a list of places to buy domains.

Now, don't have a credit card you say? Some of those companies take paypal. If you don't want to use paypal, find someone to buy you a "webcert" aka a Web Certificate. It is a MasterCard debit card that can has a certain amount of cash on it that you can spend. Get a family member to buy one for you or something.

So don't give people excuses about why you can't buy a domain. And don't try to start a business by attaining "freebies." It just doesn't work, and you have enough other options to not need them. All you need to do is get off the computer and find some money. It's really that simple.

So please, stop making requests for free domains.

if you dont like it, then dont read it ?...

its not hurting this community in any way shape or form when people are posting these request so theres no point crying about it.

some of us, me included, HAVE the money to buy the domain, i just dont have a credit card or a debit card so i cant get my money from my pocket into someone elses pocket, or into paypal. Ive sent money orders from here to the USA once, doesnt work to well...

So in a nutshell, stop crying, leave them alone, its not hurting you.

Actually the chances of getting a free domain were pretty good when all .info domains were for free.

This is a community website and people are entitled to ask whatever they feel like it.
 
I knew I'd get some kind of abrasive response to this. Yeah, I know if I don't like it I shouldn't read it, and I don't read it. But in my opinion (and I have more experience here than you do, so I'm speaking from experience) it is hurting the community. It is in no way helping the community, nor its image. People besides me find it annoying, repetitive, and sometimes even rude.

Besides that, the fact that you live in Australia is in no way stopping you from getting a domain. There are registrars in Austrailia...(I'm not going to bother listing them, you can find them on your own). That kind of excuse is rediculous.

Edit: The .info domains are an obvious exception.

Finally, I'm not crying in any way shape or form. I'm simply stating my honest opinion on how I think these requests are a detriment to the community and a few simple alternatives.
 
The thing is all about the cash!!! If I have a CC i would have purchase a domain for my self!! I'm not saying that I want free stuff, it's just that I can't get a domain for my self at this moment. I'm also asking for a free .info domain and it's not that I'm not going to repay the person that would give me it. I know some persons want a free domain with out any ads on there website.. but there's others who would.. so I don't think that's this is hurting the community in anyway!!

Well maybe there're alot of kinda ppl out there that would offer a free domain! Who knows. Maybe i'm one of them. LOL

I bought a .net domain for someone who posted in this vary forum. However it's because he already had a nice site/forum. If you're just starting off with nothing don't go looking for a domain for ads as there is NOTHING in it for them...

I agree with this, there have been A LOT of posts, and true it is our choice for reading it, but this forum can be used for more IMPORTANT questions about domains not for people to try and pawn domains off for free just because there too lazy to pay 7 bucks for a domain....if you want one that bad, cut your TV off for a month, there there is an easy 20+ dollars, or don't pay for your internet for a month and use that money right there...
 
I WOULD buy a domain if I just could know how. Seems like that I need a credit card everywhere.. then of course I could buy a one from finland, but the price they call "cheap" is around $7/month (com,net,info,biz,org etc.)
And I could get a one $6/year..

I am also fed up of people requesting free resellers as well, but thats besides the point.
 
Some free hosts won't let a person sign up without a domain name that designates the nameservers. Not every free host offers subdomains. About a year ago I signed up for a uni.cc redirection domain & was able to sign with such a host.

I was grateful to learn about the uni.cc service & I'm interested to hear about other possible free services.

If someone has a trademarked name, or a really great name, then it makes sense to buy the domain name; but I've seen some less than fantastic domain names out there that make me wonder: "Why did the webmaster pay for that?"

I think it's good to be aware of options both free & paid.

good grief. I absolutly agree! WHo can't afford to pay 5.95 a year?

I get all my domains at aplus.net

They have wonderful support and sometimes help me with my hosting problems (I don't host with them either) they've even checked nameserver status for me before!!

Plus, I never pay a dime! Know why? Cause I'm a referrer. I get UP to $20.00 off every time I refer someone to aplus.net. I do it so often I NEVER PAY AFTER THE FIRST TIME! Now THAT is a 'free' domain ;)

half you people are illitirate idiots.

cant you read? most of them have the money and cant get the money from there pocket to the registrar. Yes we know there is such thing as money order, But sending money orders from 1 country to another doesnt always work great, in my case the idiots stuffed it up twice. With debit cards, theres tonnes of hidden fee's its almost as dodgey as paypal.

So when someone requests a free domain, dont read it, just ignore it, its not that hard. Oh and learn to read too.
 
I would buy sumone a domain if they did somthing in return, make somthing for me design wise or somthing. And I hold competitons on my site just for fun and I buy domain names, every year I do the free domain name competiton from January to March, and the winner gets it untill next March. So there is such thing as a free domain name.

Australians - Sign up a bank account with St George... Then you get a Visa debit card, which works just like a credit card except the money comes out of your account, rather than on credit. Kinda likes America's prepaid credit card.
