The cnet.com one is always slow because so many people use it at once and there is no limit to how many people can use it like the one at DSL reports. Try using the other server yupapa

Sometimes when I check it and my download is really high my upload is real low, and the other way around. Almost like I have a shared upload and download. Yeah I wish.

Nope. A friend of mine works for the cable co down here and got me a free modem.

Well don't you need more than just a modem to connect with a cable connection

I have the cable service from the company, so I just connected the modem and it works.

Have you tweaked your system? I was getting 1000kbps down than I tweaked and now I get 3000

According to that my upload speed is 460kbit/s down and 238kbits/s up but I know my modem is 512/256.

Tweaking.. like making your RWIN # bigger. Think of your RWIN has a pipe, the bigger the pipe, the more water that can go through it. The larger your RWIN #, the more data can pass.

Sure you can with XP. It's all based on the RWIN settings in your registry. I'm on XP.
