WORST Free Host

Geocities sucks! But they're still better than lame-o Homestead. As for Crosswinds, why don't they just die already? They were king a year and a half ago, now they're just crap unless you pay, and I've heard that even their paid service sucks. CW needs to get it through their thick skulls that if a rich company like NBC can't support an unmetered space/bandwidth FWP with a large file size limit, then six people who have worked a long time for no pay and are probably in the poor house can't either!

I might just have to agree with you. I can still actually use the site I have at Geocities for file storage, but now that Homestead isn't free, it just eats giant piles of monkey dung. What's up with there whole "unlimited pages" crap? Do they actually think that that will entice people to sign up for a crappy host?

You just answered your own question... they'd be better if they were down, instead of serving up those ads at 1 byte per second. ;)

Yeah, but I still prefer the ones with lots of crappy ads more than the ones that don't work at all.

cons of hosts:

spaceports - can't link to cgi sites, exceeds the 1000 file limit on a well counted 39 file site! (just the cgi accounts)
netfirms - downtimes!
hypermart - huge banners, bad service, and i think they are trying to ripoff ure credit card!
portland.com - uhhh....no comment! (not enought time to type all the faults of this host)
geocities - slow and stupid!, no features, not even good for mediocre site
tripod - a very weird host....can't use the <img... tag and their cgi is a joke
angelfire - nuff said
and the list goes on and on!
.
.
unfortunately

GeoCities is actually pretty good... they've always been fast and I don't remember them having downtimes, and until recently they didn't have any bandwidth limits.

Their ads are really annoying...

The bandwidth limit alone makes them suck really bad.

The geocities bandwith limit is a hoax.
A friend of mine got a mail that his ,unused for months!, site exeded that limit. I mean, the guy didn't give his site to anyone, and he doesn't visit it himself (he has a domain and decent webhosting).

can anyone say...20fr.com

---- they suck!

quicksitebuilder.cnet.com is great but they are stoping the free hosting deal and are making users pay over 50$

They did the same crap to me in October, so I just use it for file storage now.

Geocities!

Their ad-squares that destruct your site layout... anyway, I didn't mind it untill they changed ad-squares into ad-stripes :angry2: Those ugly stripes that hide the right side of your pages.
Why don't they add banners? Don't they really think their customers want to build left-sided sites :) for hosting them on Geocities?

Geoshitties is owned by Yahoo, the biggest search engine in the world, and they still put all those stupid pop-ups and banners, what are they trying to pull? Stupid shits, probably rake in over 100million a year.
