I don't like Invision Board because it reminds me of Ikonboard (doh!).

I prefer Burning Board but it has too many annoying bugs.

Invision Board and phpbb2...Invision board is faster at least when your forum is small and has more features...better control panels (admin & user control panel). Phpbb is a bit easier to customize create templates etc. and for phpbb2 you'll find more addons nad hacks. I would go for Invision Board.

phpBB is easier, but most people mistaken IBF - once you get the system (very smart system IMO) you get everything! You could easily customize the whole board using just the style sheet - and everything (template related) is editable from the AdminCP.
