Cloud hosting is a type of hosting service that uses cloud technology. Using such hosting is more beneficial as it provides more security compared to any shared hosting services.

In shared hosting, your website will share the same server resources as all other websites on the server such as CPU, Memory, disc space, bandwidth etc. If one website overloads the server, all users will suffer from low speed or downtime.

On the other hand, if you choose cloud hosting then your website is hosted not only on one but on several servers connected to work as one. It is more reliable, fast and affordable too.

Shared= Resources from one server shared across many users.
Cloud= Resources of MANY servers shared to many users.
The similarity between cloud hosting and shared hosting is that users share the physical server. But cloud hosting typically use virtual machine for each user with dedicated resources. Unlike in shared hosting, the resources are shared for all users.

Shared hosting is a way for host providers to create small segments on a dedicated server.Cloud hosting is the same concept as shared, but not the same setup. in a shared hosting environment, you are using one dedicated server and splitting it into many small pieces, and those small pieces are the actual accounts or websites per say.
