Wanted: Decent file size

JimmyJam

New Member
I don't need a lot of space (20MB would do), don't particularly mind popups, banners etc, but the one thing I do need is a decent filesize, say up to 5MB of non-copyright MP3. I'm sick of wasting endless hours trying dozens of places that don't tell you about any limit, then let you go all the way through uploading a 2MB file and THEN say "That file is too big".

Is there anywhere free that lets you host a halfway-decent-sized file?

Thanks. Every experience I've ever had with Tripod has been them closing down sites after about a day despite them having no illegal/porn/hate content at all, but I'll give it another try. Meanwhile, if anyone has any other suggestions...

Edit: I remember the other problem with Tripod - I use a Hotmail account these days to avoid being swamped in spam, and Tripod's activation mails never seem to arrive in Hotmail accounts, rendering them effectively useless.

I've never had a problem receiving confirmation email from tripod.co.uk, to my Hotmail account.

I have, several times, but this one's actually arrived now. Clicking on the activation link, I get yet another confirmation screen, with a security number to copy. Of course, when I copy the number into the appropriate box, it says "You have copied the number wrongly." I've tried closing it down and clicking on the activation link again, which gives me a new security number, but when I try that one I get the same error. They're only four digits long, it's not like I'm making hundreds of typos or something.

I know Tripod is free, but they really do suck big time.

Try Come2Store.com - unlimited bandwidth and filespace....the only limit is a single filesize of 10 MB.

Note: I am going to take down uploads on Server 2 tonight for some routine maintenance, but they should be back in in the morning.

1. Spam and referral links are not allowed. You can not promote your own website here. This includes co-branded free hosts. And you're not allowed to post a URL where you get money or some type of compensation by referring others. It is however ok to post your website URL in your profile and/or in your signature.
Though I must admit I find this rule a bit extensive. So many people looking for free hosting providers in here and we have to keep our mouth shut tight because trying to help them would be breaking forum rules, but rules are rules...

I see plenty of people like amelen, AMZ, and HostUltra, promoting their site, and nothing happens.
I don't see anything wrong with it.

yup shouldnt be a problem, i guess as long as you're promoting your host that matches the requirements than i guess its ok than ;)

Thanks for the heads up Tazzman - I don't think I'm out of bounds on this one, though....my service is exactly what he's looking for. If I shouldn't even promote C2S in this circumstance, though, please some admin msg me and I apologize in advance.

"Signups have been disabled".

I used to like Tripod UK until they introduced those irritating ads.

If you don't mind them though, it's worthwhile.

Can You Plz Post On Your Website when Uploads Are gonna be back because they have been down a long time thnx.

to get past tripod.co.uk security code (hotmail bug) you have to copy the link in the address bar, then close the window, open another window and paste the link. then go from there.

tripod.co.uk is great for flash sites because the flash goes over the ad making it unseen. (dont get mad at me for cheating them. i still 2 buttons and a foot banner.

i thought their file size limit was only 4 mb.

to get past the "hotmail address not accepted" on 250free and liquid2k, just get an email alias or email forwarding from dot.tk or cjb.net (cjb.net perferred because of their instant activation).

Actually we more try to answer questions that users have
asked about us here or correct incorrect information posted
by FreeWebspace users here as seems to be more often
the case

We are not here often but when we login, we try to scope
out those posts where users have asked about AMZ and
try to answer those questions that the users have asked.

Speaking of which, we would not be a good recommendation
for the author of this thread since it is regarding hosting MP3
files. Our FREE accounts cannot store MP3 files.
