VPS sponsor anyone?

I feel loved here <3 xD. LOL
Sorry about that. It's tough to find what you are looking for though, as it is too large to really be had for free and not a lot of people sponsor VPSs of the size you need for an effective minecraft server hosting.

One of those where to really do it right you need to be able to put together about $15 per month reliably, which isn't too horrible to earn doing chores for the neighbors if you're not old enough to hold a real job. Though you might get lucky, I know a few people that have gotten a 1GB VPS suitable for minecraft on here.

point is, the free/p2h vps's are better then they care to admit ;)
It's a calculated risk, the entire business of hosting is. By statistics alone, free/P2H solutions have a much higher rate of problems, be it simple capacity blips or more significant problems like the entire host disappearing. And it's not just VPS providers, shared hosts run a similar statistic. If you ever get some free time, read through TaoPhoenix's study thread. Dozens of hosts were tested, and all but a handful of them also failed in some way or outright vanished taking Tao's data down with them. That thread captures the reality of the hosting world, where anybody can scrap together a name and what looks like a business, but only those with the means and the desire to survive will stay in business.

Mind you those same problems can happen on a paid VPS too. But in practice they are less likely because a paid provider will usually not be pushing their equipment as hard in the interest of profits or will have enough money in reserve cashflow to handle situations that come up that a p2h or pure-free provider might not have accounted for.

It's not a matter of who is telling the truth or who is squishing who, it's purely a matter of money and how well it is managed. But a paid VPS provider has a better chance of being financially and technically solid than a free VPS provider, who is saddled to the task of making money from nothing in order to pay the bills, leaving far less time and resources for solving problems.

Only post about the free hosting requests in here please. ftube_creator, please be more constructive with your replies, but not in this thread, as this is now only about whether or not someone can offer the OP his request.
