Spaceports.com, IS NOT UNLIMITED FOR FREE. hard to sign-up with. downside: low cgi space.

HostUltra.com, unlimited, 50000 MB space, limited file types and size. php is good, uptime is good. server load limit is good too. chmod IS BAD.

anzwers, THESE GUYS ARE NOT UNLIM anymore, they're 50MB.

crosswinds.net: 300+MB, no hotlinking and slow at times, files ARE NOT VIEWABLE. chmod is bad.

t35.com - recently upgraded, ads are 1-2 ads a page load. php is good, but connecting to other mysql databases outside it's localhost is BAD. file size limit is 250kb. NO CGI for FREE ACCOUNTS!!!

familyshowbox, non-existant.

IllusionFXnet.com - i tried signing up twice but it didn't work, but they seem okay anyway. php is sorta good. server may be down like acnova or less.

if you want add anymore of the:

idon'twannahearitunlimitedwebspaceproviders, post here.

and QUIT ASKIN' FOR IT.

There is no such think as unlimited space, even for regular charging hosts, that is unless somebodys managed to created the unlimited capacity hard drive :D

They are able to play on the fact that what they can offer would be more than their customers would ever need to use, and can therefore say we don't limit your space (because we know you could never use more than x amount)

It's misleading and shouldn't be allowed, but then people also shouldn't be so gullable and believe that somebody could offer so much for no cost anway.

Slow at times is an understatement. They're slow all the time unless you upgrade to pay, and even their pay hosting is a joke. Crosswinds should just roll over and die already, they're way way way past their prime.

i agree unlimited is about impossible..there's a limit on how much space you can have on your Hard Drive.

Spaceports - They're one of the worst hosts i've ever seen.
Hostultra - They're great hosts, CHMOD is disabled on their server.
Anzwers - You get 60MB to start off, you can request more.
Crosswinds - Bad, Bad, Bad.
t35 - half decent, many ads, they do not provide MySQL, and you don't expect CGI from a free host, do you?
familyshowbox - never heard of it
IllusionFXnet - Tried signing up, they haven't got back to me.

Theres my opinions of unlimited space hosts.

In defense of the hosts

I don't hold anything against these hosts for citing "unlimited" BW/space- it's true in the sense that they aren't setting a cap on those resources, leaving the limiting factor only to what their system can handle at any given time. It's like with ISP's- you either get charged by the hour or go "unlimited," even though there are actually a finite number of hours in a month, and thus, technically, an "unlimited" ISP is limited. It might behoove these hosts to go the extra mile and further clarify the term, but generally I think they just assume users aren't totally naive and know what they mean, so they don't bother with it.

Also, almost all the host's I've encountered that go that route will say something about reasonable use, and dispatch abusers making everyone else miserable without a second thought.

I agree with this statement 100%.

Well, Crosswinds did roll over and die (at least as a free host). I guess you should really be careful what you wish for.

Spaceports: decent; the advertising is horrendous, but then again, it's a FREE host

Hostultra: I'm on 9cy.net, which uses HostUltra's paid hosting, and the speed and reliability are not anywhere near as good as what I experienced on 9cy.net. If their paid hosting is any representation of the quality of their free hosting, then it must be run-of-the-mill. Their discriminatory policies are also not appreciated, although Eric may see it as just (and it probably is, too). However, because of this they can never become a great host. I remember that a long time ago I discovered this impressive host through a search on Google, offering reliable free hosting, great support, and just about every feature one can think of, all without any advertising...but it was only open to people from an obscure African nation. I have long since forgotten it -- it was a long time ago -- but it just goes to show that it isn't fair to compare "limited" free hosts with real free hosts.

Anzwers: You start off with 60 MB, but they will give you unlimited space if you just ask. They look like an excellent host. I signed up with them (although I haven't used them yet), and I can't see anything wrong with them.

crosswinds.net: RIP

t35.com: Very unreliable -- hopefully they have gotten their act together this time around. I can't believe that you actually expect hosts to offer CGI (I think you mean Perl) for free, MaskedMan.

IllusionFXnet.com: Haven't really taken a look at them, but they look REALLY good. Are they reliable?

The speed and reliablity is the same
Its the same type of server in the same datacenter you had on 9cy

I really dont care if the countrys which we ban dont think we are a great host, because we dont want signups from them.
This topic has been brought up way too many times by you, im sure we all dont want to discuss it again in here so I will leave it at that.

Same server, same datacenter -- different speed. I am certain of it. And less features for me too...I miss Plesk. :cry2:

Yes, they do have porn 404 pages, and sometimes the server "chokes," and your website's links go to the porn even if they're fine. Very unethical. I recommend them to all the warez and porn webmasters looking for free webspace (they're backstabbing SOB's, they deserve to be abused).

illusionfxnet:

*Owns there own server
*All profit through google ads goes to upgrading
*250 mb, 2 mb file size, enough bandwidth for a free site, php, mysql, cpanel
*Is down for 1 day while pruning users
*Has been having some downtime lately

I heard they get like 600 applications a day so thats why you wont be heard from. It took about a week for me. Also, if your site is lame, they will deny you and wont e-mail you back.
