Transparent BG's

I'm making an image for my site with Photoshop that will be placed on top of a background that is made of stripes, tiny stripes. I cannot have a solid background, or use the stripes because the stripes will not line up and be the right size. When I began the image, I set BG to transparent, but when I insert it onto my page, it has a white BG. Is it possible to have a transparent BG. Thanks.

You mean...

...something like this:

IE: this.style.opacity='alpha(opacity=xxx)';

Mozilla:
this.style.MozOpacity='.x';

replace the x's with numbers

You have to save it as a GIF. Your best bet is to set the Matte to a colour close to what your stripes are, then set that colour as the transparency colour.
