Transferring MySQL databases - cPanel

Hi

Ok, I should know this but I need to ask anyway.

I have someone with a large forum, using quite a few MySQL databases. Using cPanel, can I backup their entire site, and then restore it on the new host?
Will this affect the databases connecting to the forum?

If you use the cPanel transfer tool to transfer the entire cPanel account, then you shouldn't have any problems.

I'd recommend asking them to put their forums into maintenance mode to prevent threads and posts being lost.

You can do the transfer using MYsql Dump via PHPmyadmin interface

Yeah, probably the best bet... I've found the cPanel transfer tools to be a bit buggy at times.

If the account is larger than 1 GB, I do not recommend to transfer it using WHM. Instead of this, create a full backup via SSH (pkgacct accoutname) and then transfer it to new server (scp). Now, restore the account on a new server.
