I was researching a math problem earlier and came across one particular .edu site that featured a Java applet showing a graphical representation of the problem. It started loading fine enough but midway my PC just powered down.
When I powered it up again Win2k wouldn't start anymore.. about 3-4 seconds into the boot process it would just reboot itself over and over. Safe mode still worked but safe mode with network support suffered the same reboot fate. Nothing I tried got it working again.
If anyone ever told me a web page disabled their Win2k I probably wouldn't believe him/her for a second and would blame it on something else but I guess I know different now :confused2.
I took advantage to finally try out WinXP instead of reloading my latest Ghost image and can't say I'm very much impressed with it so far. It is running a lot faster then I would have expected though.
Moral of the story: Sun is right to sue Microsoft for it's Java implementation because it wasted half a day of my life installing WinXP and 5 minutes of your life for reading my rant
