Text-to-speech

I'm wondering if anyone knows of either an online or freely downloadable speech synthesizer/text-to-speech/whatever you want to call it thingy that can read text in a clear, smooth, relatively natural sounding voice? I'd like it to have a British accent, I'd rather it not be American, and male.

Alan, the Scottish voice at http://www.cepstral.com/demos.php, is like what I'm looking for, but I wanted to know if anyone knew of any others.

This is when a MAC could come in handy... hmm... Simple Text...

Anywho, I remember seeing something like this posted before... maybe it was at WHT... I dunno. I'll see if I can find that link.

I've tried ReadPlease before, it doesn't fulfill the "smooth" or "relatively natural sounding" requirements. I can understand if it's not perfectly fluent, but I don't want something that sounds mechanical.

I can't access http://www.unaesthetic.net/st/.
