Sony!!

No, their consoles are way better than their competitors (at the time of release) perhaps with the exception of ps2/xbox.

I've seen real play footage of the PS3, and god damn it's lifelike - much, much better than the '360.

But I can't believe they did that, it's so unethical.

I never liked the playstation lineup. And the fact they'r forcefeeding you a blueray drive in the newest one is blah. Take that thing out and drop the price by 200$ and I might consider it. I'm not a fan such ethics.

i was saving my money to by the sp3, not anymore. don't know what i'm gunna do with the money tho

PS3 is a ----ing joke. End of story.

Sony should just quit while they're ahead.. rootkits, anyone?

However, IANAL but according to a friend at uni who does business law, Sony had every right to do this..

Once again, Sony is ----, as is PS3.

Let the flamewar begin!

I like my PS2, nothing wrong with it. I cant understand why they making a new one?

just wait till after xmas if in Europe.

benefits

1) some of the bugs should be sorted out
2) more games should be avaliable
3) price may drop... (doubt tho...)
4) more time to save up???

oh, wtf, they aint really benefits, i want it now. lol.

Dear mr. Sony,

Would you be so kind to DIE!!!!

Yours truly,

European gamer.
That was entertaining!
Does this mean I cant sell my PSP on ebay? Wtf

lol im getting a BMX for christmas, not even thinking about a PS3. Anyway they like half in price in like 1 year so i dont mind waiting but unlikely ill buy it cause i have my computer which i love....

Sony got karma'd.
I won't buy Sony products anymore because of that rootkit fiasco, and I'm not planning on purchasing a PS3 because it's going to be so damn expensive. Even if it does have a Blu-Ray drive. (Mmm... Blu-Ray.)

hmm... I'm gona say ---- sony for abusing their powers and stop buying anything related to them. I think my lapy has the sony battery, that might explain why it gets so hot so quick. I gota freakin check it before it explodes on my balls. that'd definetly hurt!

Even if it does have a Blu-Ray drive. (Mmm... Blu-Ray.)

What's so great about blue-ray?
same mpeg2 video decoding as dvd = sony dosnt want to pay $$$ rolayties
Less compressed sound. wow, big deal, video makes the bigger difference sony, video.

At least the guys at HD-DVD got it right, and my vote goes for HD-DVD.

It doesn't have a dumb---- confusing name. The DVD format is already confusing enough (DVD+, DVD-, DVD+-, DVD-RAM, what IS all of this?). And Blu-Ray holds more data.
I could care less about high definition stuff. I don't own anything that could process high-definition anything, and I doubt I will at any point in the near to mid future, so I don't really know or care which one has better video quality.

you can do more with it than have HD Videos. You can use it to back up your hard drive on a few DVD's :p Unless you have over 100 GB, then you need around 10 or more. Than again I forget how much storage are on these suckers.

Because, like I said, I do not utilize or care about high definition, and I'm more likely to use a Blu-Ray disk for data than buy an HD-DVD movie. Doesn't Blu-Ray have, like, double the space of HD-DVD on single-sided disks alone?
Besides which, I hate the trend of video game systems just improving graphics, improving graphics, improving graphics. Using Blu-Ray allows the developers to put more time into putting all sorts of other stuff into the game - more levels, more immersible environments, etc. That's what I want to see.

It does hold more data, true. But myself would not use them for data storage.
I have this 50 dvd-r spindle on my desk collecting dust for almost a year. Let's see, 3 disks are missing. While the same sized cd-r spindle is almost finished.

As for the video games, Let's take game XYZ. Game XYZ is released on both the ps3 and x360. blue-ray disk for ps3, regular dvd for x360.
Same game. Same levels. Same music. But the more space of the blue-ray is used for slightly better graphics :)
