i signed up for hosting @ myacen. i already had a name registered. i changed the dns info for it, and it shows up on the updated whois record. however, the domain and ftp don't work. is this normal? in other words, just because the dns info is changed, does it mean the domain is already transferred? is there anything else that should be altered? thanks in advance!!

Well, in theory you are correct, however incorrectrly configured DNS caches can keep your old IP address for a very long time if you are actually changing IP addresses and not simply adding a new IP address.
I've had sites that were still being accessed at their old IP address 3 weeks after I moved them.
