Celebration... I heard someone said if Toronto won today, there will be pancake available somewhere in DownTown..
 
Well looks like it will be at Bejing... they had quite a celebration.. and it looked like the PLA was marching throughout Bejing and Jiang Zemin, the Leader, would attend the celebrations.

Oh I retract that statement... everyone in Toronto is mad at the Chinese for stealing their chance at the 2008 Olympics. :D

No.. I don't think he was being racist. He just wanted to have the Olympics there. In fact, there are huge chinese/asian communities in Toronto.

I am from Toronto as well, but I am not surprised that we lost the bid.
 
I finally realized that he was just mad at China.... I could see why...
But China with its human rights problems, and a massacre that occured a mere 12-13 years ago got voted to stage the 2008 Olympics... hmmm...
 
A while ago I heard on the news that NYC was planning on building some kind of arena or whatever in hope that the Olympics would be held there in 2012. I probably wrong somewhere in there. Can someone correct me?
 
China had to win. The market is huge and it's untapped. It's virtually billions and billions of dollars waiting to be grabbed by Multi National Companies.

The olympics these days have become a symbol of commercialism rather a symbol of sport. Every country wants to hold the olympics because it involves so much profit and the local economy literaly booms and profits sky rocket.

Everything is decided by sponsorships these days.
 
Well i think china deserved to win, America has had its issue with china, and i think the global body of the Olympics was just trying to show that the U.S cannot control everything that has to do with China.
