Intro
For those who don't know, Liway has been operating since early-mid 2006. We are a moderately sized host, with emphasis on providing high quality services to our users. We are not business oriented, we are community oriented.
We have just moved our forums from phpbb2 to phpbb3, and as such we would like as many users as possible to come and check out our new forums and services.
We are currently holding a long-term promotion, whereby users may acquire free hosting from us without any kind of posting or points - be it upfront or monthly. The reason we are doing this, is because we have a vast amount of resources, which we would like to put a dent in filling
PS. There are no ads.
Our Hosting
We provide resources ranging from 50 MiBs of space and 1,000 MiBs of bandwidth, all the way up to 5,000 MiBs of space and 100,000 MiBs of bandwidth.
We pride ourselves in running a server which is well suited towards developers and scripts. We run the latest PHP 5.3, MySQL 5.0 and PostgreSQL 8.4 (and Ruby on Rails - if that's your thing). We have a large array of extensions and install new ones on demand. In addition, we have generous PHP settings.
We always welcome all feedback and requests by users to improve our services. Our uptime is around 99.6%-99.8% for the current year, tracked by host-tracker and rockerszone respectively. Our uptime since 2006 would be around 98.4%. Our outages are generally 5min planned maintenance work on the server (free monitoring tools often have long check delays so they often exaggerate downtime by 30mins).
As you may understand by now, Liway is a very reliable host, has been around for quite a while - and will be around quite a long way into the future :beer:
The Staff
Liway is ran by me and four other staff members. We are all computing students at various universities and other tertiary institutions, and we run our own projects on our server. We have ample experience at all aspects of server administration, programming and development. Most of us run other servers for various purposes. We have vested interests in our own host, and genuinely believe in our host because...we use it ourselves (quite a bit!).
