Is sites like rapidshare and megaupload legal or not.
if not how come they are having leading ad sponsars like adbrite or google adsense since they stictly prohibit illegal websites.
if they are legal then can a site which publishes the contents of these sites termed as legal or not .

Because of the amount of illegal files that get uploaded to both sites? Both sites, believe it or not - do delete illegal content. The fact is that so much ---- is being uploaded they take a while to get around to deleting it. That and the old trick of "Is My_pets_photos.rar really warez01.rar?"

No, they aren't illegal at all.

megaupload never deletes warez, not that's ive seen of.

THey arent illegal sites, but they sometimes do host illegal content. Thats why I am sure in their terms of service, they state they are not responsible for user uploaded content but that illegal copyright-infringed content will be deleted.
