We are offering a 10mbps Dedicated Leased Line (provided by China Telecoms) for your dedicated server for a period of 18 months to the first 5 confirmed applicants. This is especially good for webmasters and hosts who wants faster access for their Asian Clients and Surfers.

You heard it right! We are not crazy and giving away 1000s of dollars of bandwidth is not something anyone in their right state of mind would even remotely think of. And being sane as we all are, we won't be doing this for no reason at all.

We are in the business of setting up, maintaining and management of Internet Cafe, with projects spread over Guang Dong province in China. Providing free hosting is our hobby and side-business to kill time. Anyway, due to the upgrading of one of our Internet Cafe to fibre optic lines, we are now faced with 5 DSL (actually 10 but we are keeping 5) which we no longer need. Since the agreement with the provider is a package deal, they are not expected to expire till October 2007 with option to renew. If we terminate the agreement early, we will be penalised.

Instead of letting it sit around and go to waste, we have decided to give them away to those who may find a need for these lines to host their Dedicated Servers targetting Asian Traffic, especially China.

Here comes the catch! During the process of upgrading of our existing network to fibre optic lines, we have also upgraded our accounting and storage servers. These 5 servers are now also sitting around gathering dust. As such, we have decided to lease them bundled with the Free DSL offers. In other words, you'll have to "LEASE" the servers from us for a period of 18 months or longer if you want to enjoy our offer, for a ONE-TIME fee (payable upfront in full).

Attached below are the specs for the servers and the price we are asking for:

80GB SamSung HDD ..........US$680.00 One-Time Payment.
* Control Panel and OS of your choice and EVERYTHING offered by the respective OS and Control Panel.

Please take note that payment is ONE-TIME only. You NEED NOT pay us anything for the next 18 months unless you choose to upgrade your hardware or options, which we would list below. However, if for any reason you decide not to continue with us during the 18 months period, the server will remain with us, your payment is for the leased for our servers, not purchase them. We are doing this to cover the cost of our DSL only, no profit is intended. Should you decide to continue with us after 18 months, your one-time payment is US$200.00 for 12 months.

Network and Data Centre
1. We are using LinkSys for all our Gigabit routers and Hubs.
2. The servers will be housed in the same 30m2 air-conditioned room with the servers used for the Internet Cafe, with UPS, manned round the clock (the cafe is 24 hours operational).
3. Failover and redundancy is provided by an aux connection to our main fibre optic backbone.
4. Security is provided by SPI firewall available on the routers we use, for prevention of common attacks.

Support and Maintenance
1. All clients will have FULL root access to their server to check their configuration and tweak so they wish.
2. Since the DC is manned round-the-clock, Support Ticket will be answered within 1 hour as we will be setting our email client to check for mail every 30 minutes.
3. Server-wide backup will be scheduled for every 7 days. Clients are advised to perform their own backup using our storage server (Free Of Course) on the same network.
4. 1 (one) dedicated IP assigned to each server, additional available upon request, as usual, US$50.00.

Clarification
I find the need to clarify this. If we receive more "Intention To Order" than 5, we will give them to the 1st and then 2nd potential clients so on and so forth. Hence potential client 6 would only get to have the account if either of the 1st to 5th client withdraws.

Additionally, on our form, there is a text area asking for how you want to use the server. This is IMPORTANT because it help us decide if the server is suitable for such usage and install any additional scripts or modules which you may need.

Just be brief about that, we will ask you for details of what you want and how you want it when all the offers are taken.

All I can say is other thaqn power failure for more than 6 hours (UPS can take 6 hours), the Internet Cafe have not been down at all unless China Telecoms burst their cable.

For upgrading,
"All the above are priced at US$50.00, again One-Time Payment." I think this is a bit not clear :) perhaps you need to put each. Since it's not all upgrade. Dunno I was confused.
So no uptime guarantee? like if the server down then get something?
Just want to get more information somehow.
 
The price we are offering is ridiculous and out of this world to say the least. ALL Upgrades (if applicable) are US$50.00 nett, be it HDD, RAM or whatever we list on this page and its a one-time payment.

For example, if you need to add 512MB of DDR, its US$50.00 one-off, if you want a 2nd 120GB HDD, its also US$50.00 one-off.

As for uptime, we already put in redundancy and fallover, its new, we are not in this business, so we can only use the Internet Cafe as a benchmark which as mentioned, UNLESS China Telecoms busrt their cable, no downtime is expected since the Cafe have had no downtime, unless its for client requested reboot or OS install.

Also, in the event of a power failure, only the accounting server for the cafe and these servers will be using the UPS, good for 6 hours. Anything longer will see these server go down but that rarely if any happens. China is not that lousy as some perceive them to be.

In fact, the chinese have their very own home-made control panel which we have tested and found to even rival some of the best. The only draw back to these are scripts which are in chinese.

Also, we even came across free software by them which you can install on a windows system (98, me, xp) which would allow you to run it as a web server with mysql, sendmail and apache. Surprise?

Drawback to all these? They are in chinese! :biggrin2:

So we cannot guarantee uptime since we are not the business of leasing and have never used these servers for web purposes. Remember that we are practically "giving" them away to those who need them for a token sum.

Common FAQ Submitted By Interested Clients

Below are some commonly asked questions posted by clients we thought best to answer it here for all.

Q: Is the 10mbps a throttled connection off your fibre optic betwork?
A: No, its your very own dedicated 10mbps connection to China telecoms. No other server is sharing that connection.

Q: How do we know that the specs for the server is what you claimed to be?
A: You have full root access. You can always check it from there if you know linux / unix.

Q: Why do you need to have 5 confirmed order before you can deploy the server? Cant you go with one at a time?
A: It is economical not viable for us to deploy one at a time. If we do not managed to "lease" all of the 5, then we would lose out on the charges imposed by China Telecoms. Failing to confirm all of the server would mean we will have to find alternatives to put them to good use.

Q: Can we use servers with other config than those you advertised?
A: Yes, but the servers we order are ready on hand. Having a new server would mean you would have to fork out the FULL PRICE for the new server. You aer welcome to email us for a quote.

Q: Why don't you accept credit card payment?
A: We are NOT in the business of dedicated hosting and getting a merchant account or processor to handle only 5 sales is economically not viable. Besides, a processor would charge anything from 20% on sales, we will have to pass these to our clients, would they agree to that?

Who can get a 10mbps connection for 18 months c/w server at this price?

You are leasing the server with a "token" sum.

Just a point of clarification here:

You are NOT REQUIRED to enter into an agreement with us to lease the server for 18 months. You can stop and terminate anytime you want to since you are not billed monthly or you can choose to continue leasing the server after 18 months for the same price.

On the other hand, the 10mbps connection is given to you for 18 months for a one-time fee c/w the server. You can view it as leasing the server c/w 10mbps or vice versa.

Either way, its a deal too good to miss if you need faster chinese traffic.

Yes there is, under the original posting:

Should you decide to continue with us after 18 months, your one-time payment is US$200.00 for 12 months.

Also, we have decided to issue a guarantee of the uptime at the request of interested clients as follows:

30 Days Money-Back Guarantee from the date of activation if our uptime is less than 98%. Exception would be circumstances beyond our control, like maybe China telecoms burst their cable, riot, earthquake, etc.
