uh... why would you want a banner on your site when the host said that he doesn't need it?
 
a real dream host would be:
unlimited disk space
unlimited bandwidth
unlimited MySQL databases

very fast, no file size limit
telnet

20 - 50 megs of space

I would love you if you did just that :)
 
I don't think there can be a free dream host but I think this is realistic if you want to survive and offer something good.

- ftp
- php
- mysql
- linux server (or maybe freebsd)
- 50mb space
- 2gb transfer
- 468x60 banner which can be placed wherever the user wants it but it would have to be near the top of the page.
- subdomain
- control panel
- 404 pages
- 200kb file size limit

As I said that would be kind of realistic if you wanted to offer a lot. Don't offer perl and cgi because they use too many resources.

(ignoring the no-ads part...that optional 88x31 banner sounds like a GREAT idea! I'm hoping this idea will work; at least I would put it on just out of gratitude.)

...even though I don't need half of the things on the list, lol. But they may come in handy one day.
 
My idea of a realistic free host:

10MB of webspace
1GB of bandwidth
FTP Access
Pop-unders/Pop-ups/Banners (A choice)
CGI-Bin

This host should also provide paid plans.

That is my idea of something realistic, and something that could last.

Ohh yeah forogt about free domains, about 50 should do it, with unlimited subdomains. :D

Let me remind you that I havent started this host yet, and Philez is a very temporary site, mainly used for file upload, and a temporary park site untill my host servers are set up.

Sorry for any confusion
 
Thats ok, I can understand your point of view.

Also, everyone emailing me, about my hosting, It wont be up for a while, I am in the research and developement stage. It may be a month or more. Thanks for your patience.

Also, would you think of it to be a bad idea to just start the hosting company on my website, and nothing else, because setting up all those other features is really time consuming.
