Sawed-off shotguns themselves are illegal. It's separate from illegal posession of a firearm, since a lot of guns are legal as long as you meet the requirements. I believe in Georgia it's 21 to own a handgun, 18 for a rifle/shotgun + a background check, licenses, etc.
