Help me buy my first car...

Hello everybody,

I'm looking for a car, so I need some of you all's help. This will be my first car so I cannot spend too much money on it. In fact I cannot go too far over $4000 and it's actually even better if the price doesn't go above that. I am also looking for a sports car.

Whoever finds something, please list it. Let's see what you all can find. BTW, I found this car but I can't get it because my dad says it has too many miles on it, and if he says that he won't help me pay for it then I got no chance

Now let's see what ya'll can find.......

lol bruce,
Those are V8's.
I doubt our friend here that is only on a 4000 budget is willing to pay $$$$$$ for gaz.

I'd suggest something with a V6 or V4

This is what comes to my mind:

v6 230hp - 1991 Nissan 300ZX
v6 300hp - 1991 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo
v4 160hp - 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse base
v4 210hp - 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse gsx
v6 ???hp - 1994-95 Dodge Avenger
v4 120hp - Dodge Neon

Those run for about 3500-5000

It's worth imo paying a little more for a better looking/performing car.

I'm not exactly interested in being his financial advisor as well.

Did he say anything about the car needing good gas mileage? Thank you; I rest my case.

Well, imo, it's pretty clear he's looking for a car that has good gas milleage :)
- 4000$
- first car
- dad has final word on purchase

Heck, I might as well suggested a wrecked porsche 911, lol

Some other names came to my mind.
Not sure about specs/price for each so just posting names:

Eagle Talon <- same as Eclipse
Honda Del Sol
Honda Accord 2dr 1996+ I think
Mazda Miata mx-5
Mazda Precidia mx-3
Pontiac GrandPrix 2dr
Dodge Stealth
Mercury Couguar

Get a Z! All the Datsun/Nissan Z's and ZX's fall into this category. The old 260Z's get ~160mph with the stock in-line 6 cylinder, 2.6litre engine. 162hp. But it requires 93 octane (i believe the octane measurement system between USA and Canada is different, since the manual gives two octane levels for USA and Canada). Original price in 1974: ~$5700 USD, (i think thats about $60,000 today if they were sold new). If you get a 260, make sure it has the carburetors off of a 240, since the original carbs on the 260 produced some problems.

Check eBay, I've seen some people selling theirs (Why? who the hell knows).

Here's an earlier 240Z with an airdam installed (the 240 and 260 look very similar)

Personally I don't like old Z's as you Ben.
I dunno, I find them rather... outdated...

I'd suggest a 1991-2 300ZX over a 74 one for the same price.
Speed is not only the only factor when buying a car, even more since its his 1st.

Murat, the Bmw's are nice.
I like the 1994 325i convertible one :) very sexy

As for VW, the only one that is ok for me is the Corrado G6

My advice is to NOT buy a car :( They suck the life out of you...

- Syd ($2000 in the hole, $350/month in payments, insurance and gas)

BY THE WAY, as I have said before, "DO NOT BUY A FIREBIRD"!!! My mother owned one, she gave it to me, I went out and bought an older car because it sucked so bad!
