free hosting, what advertising?

I've come up with an idea which is being discussed here:

Only problem is several people believe that the idea won't work, as too many free webhost users will not like it. I would like your opinion on this matter (before you read the thread above, or else it may bias you).

By saying "Text link in your website's text." some people might think the advert is just one text link on your site.

You should say contextual adverts, or be more specific.

What happened to POP-UPs? Those used to be THE choice for advertisements!

If I had to pick, I would say probably Google Adsense. I see them all over the place and they don't really bother me. Banner ad would be next best idea, specially if you could place them yourself.

As a whole though, I HATE contextual advertisements that are actually in blocks of text. I have a bad habit of selecting/highlighting text as I read it, and I am always clicking on those bloody text ads by accident, super annoying. Frames are also just so, 1996.

If I had to choose I would go either for digitalpoint COOP ads or text links at the very bottom of the page. My second choice would be contextual content text links like kontera.
