well, of course, p2p, bit-torrent, etc gives us the mp3, but it is interesting
to see someone interested in getting exe to play music.
of course what he should look for is mod´s and other old formats. not cracks!
you know, back then there was no compression, one had to sample very small
parts of sound to play a full music. With this method, I could hear a clone
music using small samples of it. If the tracker was talented, the result would
be incredible. 22.000kz 8 bit stereo samples all together packed in a file
usually caled mod, latter xm, would play the music with a 500, 600 k file size.
winamp is the only comercial player that still suports this old formats.
well, those times are gone, of course, but large database of these mod´s and
xm´s (and other similiar formats, like it or others) are still arround.
But one thing that hasn´t gone is the demo scene, where very talented
graphic designers and musics make contests of their works, some very
impressive I migth add!. And that is what some exe/cracks still do for fun
while...fixing the aplications...
Anyway, tools have changed to give us much higher levels of creativity.
back then, making music was something like coding an aplication, if no MIDI
keyboard/cable was used (very rare). all was like countless 00010001 lines.
thank good to soud forge, nuendo, cubase and others. much easyer.
