do you remember where those stories about the freewebspace.net members were?

Well.. I don't remember exaclty, but I saved the one dissecting the flaming forum posts ;)

Anyone remember this? I thought this was ROFL funny!

Here is the one I saved:
Code:

The Freewebspace Community [url]http://freewebspace.net/mb/[/url] is a place for discussing freewebspace and related things.
Not too unique, but threads appear to take a consistant form.

For example, if someone posts a message like "hey I thought this was a place for helping people not turning them in",
the regulars will all reply to the same message generating what I call a predictable redundant multiple (PRM) or
virtual thread (VT):

1. PRM Bait <-- "I thought this place was for helping people, not turning them in"
  2. Re: PRM Bait <-- Basically: No, I will not tell you how to break the TOS (short)
  3. Re: PRM Bait <-- Same as above
  4. Re: PRM Bait <-- Same as above
> 5. Re: PRM Bait <-- Longer, detailed, point-by-point explaination
> 6. Re: Re: PRM Bait <-- Original poster with a come back
> 7. Re: Re: Re: PRM Bait <-- Defeating come back
\ Long diagonal thread, aka Re:^n thread or horizontal thread (HT).

2, 3, and 4 are probably all saying the same thing and nothing new, not thought provoking, and short in length.
5 is longer and might attack the post in detail. 6 is the original troll poster, and 7 is same as 5.
Usually a flamewar starts here, or maybe an interesting discussion.

In this document, I will examine a real life example of a "how do I remove the Xoom banner" thread.
This thread was located at [url]http://www.freewebspace.net/cgi-bin/forum/freewebspace.pl?read=21422[/url] ,
but if this file is old it probably won't still be there.

` Re: Xoom banner kill TheTakerFan <-- ATTACK tired of stupid posts

This thread has some interesting aspects to it. In the comment marked by '$', notice how rmsharpe says something,
causing a cascading thread to form under it. Only one of the posts under rmsharpe's $-post was made by rmsharpe.
Comments marked with a ` are not very interesting and not in the main thread. These posts are usually redundant sayings
which the $-post already said, or some variations on it. Rmsharpe's post had the most heat to it, so it generated the most
replies.

The catagories of posts used here are:

SUCKER_BAIT -- Re:ATTACK Used to attract obvious replies. May be intentional or not.
ME_TOO -- I had this problem too..., considered lame
CORRECTION -- Corrects parent post, similar to ANSWER
SUPPORT -- Re:CORRECTION/ANSWER adds additional supporting facts
QUESTION -- Question
ANSWER -- Re:QUESTION answers a question
ATTACK -- Insults parent post, but not harsh personal insults
REBUTTLE -- Re:ATTACK Come back for an attack
FLAME -- Harsh personal insults, calling names, etc.
