i'm trying to put a tagboard on my site.
i'm stuck on this instruction:

CHMOD tag.txt and tag.cgi to 777 with your FTP client.

Can anyone tell me what that means?? what is "CHMOD"?

chmod is short for "change mode". it's for unix-based systems, and can probably done with your ftp software. what ftp program are you using?

Search for help in the prog for CHMOD. I'm sure it can do it. BTW, CHMOD is changing the permissions on the script or file. Depending on the script and host settings, you might not even have to CHMOD. But, yea, just look through the help file for chmod.
