Can someone help me find a web space provider?

I am currently using geocities for my rather large personal/family site but have 2 major problems. #1 not enough bandwidth - my site keeps getting shut down because about 4-5 days per month it will get 60 or so hits, the rest of the days are more like 5 hits. #2 no direct linking for avitars and such.

I am looking for 20 MB,ftp,direct linking & enough bandwidth to keep my site going. Also i could use a seperate site for the direct linking for my avitars if i had to.

Thanks in advance for any help you all can give me!
:) D!

Its looks like 1 GB bandwith (what geocities gives you) isn't enough for your site (or the daily bandwith limit) so you should try these :

- www.fateback.com (unmetered bandwith - 60MB space - no ads)
- www.aboutme.com (unmetered bandwith - 20MB space)
- www.web1000.com (unmetered bandwith - 50MB space)
- www.coolfreepages.com (unmetered bandwith - 50MB space)
- www.dreamwater.com (unmetered bandwith - 50MB space)
- www.t35.com (unmetered bandwith - unmetered space)

*unmetered doesn't exist, just read it as : a lot.

No, unmetered exists, but only in theory - it means, "as much as our connections can support." These hosts probably lease the line, so they don't have to pay for the actual traffic they get.

Anyway, Geocities offers 3 gb monthly traffic, but this person's problem is that GC imposes traffic restrictions by the hour (5 mb/hour), therefore causing her site to be down on the days it gets bursts of traffic (if GC didn't have the hourly limits, the days her site got bursts of traffic would be balanced by the other days when her site got 5 hits and she wouldn't have this problem).

out of that list, fateback would have to be the best.

aboutme.com = DB under construction
web1000.com = porno 404's (?Still?)
coolfreepages.com = Truly unreliable
dreamwater = 5$ charge for activation (they suck anywayz)
t35.com = last time I checked they didnt work but that was a while ago.

fateback = perfect
mywebpage.netscape.com is probably ok too.

I can hook you up with the avatar linking possibly, depending on how much space you need. PM me if you are still looking.

T35 still does not work. Their main site may be up, but their forums, their members' sites, and their FTP server is down and has been down for the past 2.5 weeks.

lol, --- try hostultra.com

don't expect too much from this host though....

If I were you, I would like to use fateback.com

even it's slow sometimes.

Fateback.com is slow almost all the time. I tried them again a couple weeks ago just to see if their speed improved, and it hasn't.
