Bonsai Kitten Chain Mail?

Well, I received this supposed "chain mail" that claims to be a petition to end some practice that modifies the bones of kittens. From looking at the website link they put these kittens in a bottle so that they grow into strange and abnormal shapes. Should I believe this?

If you receive this email, PLEASE put your name on the bottom. Even
if you do not care ( I sincerely hope that is not the case) COPY THE
EMAIL AND PASTE IT, THEN FORWARD IT ON.......PLEASE....... just put
your name there, it wont take too much effort. To anyone with love
and respect for life: In New York there is a Japanese who sells
"bonsai-kittens". Sounds like fun huh? NOT! These animals are
squeezed into a bottle. Their urine and faeces are removed through
probes. They feed them with a kind of tube.
They feed them chemicals to keep their bones soft and flexible so the
kittens grow into the shape of the bottle. The animals will stay
there as long as they live. They can't walk or move or wash
themselves. Bonsai-kittens are becoming a fashion in New York and
Asia. See this horror at:
http://www.bonsaikitten.com
and look at the gallery page.
Please sign this email in protest against these tortures. If you
receive an email with over 500 names, please send a copy to:
anacheca@hotmail.com From there this
protest will be sent to USA and Mexican animal protection
organizations. If you send this to your friends: Use the copy/paste
method in an NEW
email to keep this readable....

Seems a bit sus, but as they are not actually collecting email addresses it might actually be true. Search for the site with the list of chain letters and see if it is fake.

Actually, I just went to the site, doesn't look real.

Are you telling me people actually think Bonsai Kittens are real?

Quotes from the guestbook:

In reply to an angry letter about Kitticulture:
"We resent your opinions, and wish you did not have them."

In reply to a suggestion that pictures of disfigured humans should be posted instead of cats:
"Cats simply do not have the financial wherewithal or Web shopping abilities to keep the market afloat"

In reply to an objection to selling cat drugs:
"...judging from the limited degree of coherence present in your correspondence with us, it seems that you may have been partaking of your own collection of restricted substances."

In reply to a mother apologizing for her 14 year old son Necropimp's threats and insults, saying how he's under the care of a psychiatrist:
"...your son's aberrant behavior could possibly be traced to the unorthodox name with which you chose to christen him. In the event that you should have additional children in the future, we recommend giving them more normal names in order to start them off on the right track."

In reply to a poem:
"art predicts progress / rectilinear kittens / it's hip to be square"

How can anyone possibly take that seriously?
