Well, I just attended my first computer show... As cool as it was to see all the equipment and stuff, some of the people that attend these things can be very scary.

Well anyways, here's what happened to me today!

I shopped around the place for about an hour pricing out the hardware I wanted... After finding the cheapest booth I went up and asked for a discount on tax or anything. I was told no, still decided to buy though.

I was purchasing:
- Athlon 1800+ Retail
- MSI K7T266 Pro2 Mobo
- MSI GeForce3 Ti200 64MB
- 256MB DDR

Total in Canadian funds should have been around $900...

Ended up, the guy only charged me for $303... I think I almost pissed myself, but being honest I asked him "You sure about that". He glanced over his math again, and replied he was sure.

So basically, I paid, and then ran outta there as fast as I could!!!

If anyone needs proof, I can scan my bill!!!!

Nice shit...$300? I have spent a lot more upgrading my current machine, and it still has a PIII 450 chip in it...nice deal!

That's like the prices at the computer shows that come to Richmond. When I go, they have shit loads of stuff that "fell off the back off the truck" ;), and it's all dirt cheap. You can get cell phones for like ten bucks, but there's like a 20% chance it might not work :p.

I missed the one early this month. There's another one in a few weeks. I want to go and get some software, ram, and some parts to work on my older computers.

I went last time and some guy sold my friend a CD-R with Win98 on it for like 5 bucks. There is so much illegal stuff there it is unbelievable. Not to mention the entire row of porn booths :p.

i've traveled to a large computer show about 80 miles from me and got deals like that before it depends on the place and the vendor. but when you go to those shows look at the competition tho. its like having wal-mart and target next door to each other the are gonna have price wars to sell the same things to their customers. i recommend anyone who hasnt went to a show b4 to go especially if your in the market for new hard/software

holy shit!! awesome deal... Damn, the show was yesterday, and I was contemplating on whether to go or not.. too bad I decided to stay in..

Any idea when the next computer show is?

There was a computer show here a few weeks ago.....I didn't go, I'd honestly rather loiter around the "Best Buys" Video Games section 'till they kick me out ;) Hey thats a good idea :D

Have they really kicked you out? I've had a couple 4+ hour stays at Best Buy's before and they've never kicked me out :p.

Thanksfully, no, but I'm trying to see how long I can stay listening to sample music and playing the sample games till they kick me out. :classic2:

A couple weeks ago, me and one of my friends were in Best Buy for like three hours listening to every sample CD, playing on all the computers, and playing all the new video game displays.

Also, one time I was in Best Buy playing DOA2 against anyone else who walked by. I did that from about 10:00 AM til about 2:30 PM cause I was waiting for my Dad to get out of a long meeting.
