I do not think that your links in tweets is going to mean much to your sites popularity. The best way to promote your site through twitter and facebook, is having a lot of friends, likes and followers. Eventually you can start building up a small comunity and from there the WOM will spread and people will post even more links to your site.

If the twitter account your posting to has many followers and high daily exposure to the relevant market/audience, you'll find that advertising on the platform can be quite beneficial. However in terms of back-links, twitter is No-Follow meaning that search engines are not to follow links posted within the website.
