I have lots of old tapes at home and want to listen to them on CD in the car (it only has CD R/RW/Mp3 player) on my frequent longgggg drives.

Can someone suggest me a good .Wav to .MP3 converter?

Yes definatly CDEX it is your best bet and it is free!

If you want audio quality, I'd use LAME encoder as it can basically blow away Xing or any other codec any day.

Use --alt preset standard for transparent sounding files at a managable bitrate.

Heh...using a converter, the only option for mp3's it was "MP3 Audio(Lame)". I thought that meant the quality was going to be bad...but it wasn't. When burned on a CD it sounded great.

What setting did you use on LAME?

BTW, LAME is the best sounding MP3 encoder there is. It's even better than FhG's own codec.

the difference is probably barely noticeable.

I guess I'm not nerdy enough to care about what codec or whatever i use.
