I wouldn't post 75 times just for a mysql database, its kinda stupid if you ask me.

Sounds kinda of reasonable to ask for something in return, if you ask me.

You might want to make that sticky instead of posting it in ever topic. :classic2:

Well, its like spam. Its gotta get everyone and everything to know its out there. Its really really really sad. Espeically when it gets your attention.

Yeah, I do think it's reasonable, except for that fact that I don't think I could stand to see all the spam that must be on the AMZ forums...

Actually there is no spam in the forums at all ....
and for a very good reason.

Anyone caught spamming is immediately deleted
and permanently banned from ever receiving hosting,
FREE or COMMERCIAL. We are very strict on that
policy and react very quickly to users like that.

Additionally, your posting rank in the forums isn't
necessarily the total that will be used at application
time. Every application is held for a live administrator
to go and actually read all the posts of an applicant.
Posts that don't provide some meaningful content
don't count. IE: "me too", "I agree", "cool!" type
of posts don't count towards your required total.

You are either going to qualify for hosting legitimately
or you are going to be finding some other hosting
provider. We are very serious about that. Our
first interest is in quality hosting. We actually don't
care about the number of signups we get.

As for the earlier posts about the 75 posts to
get MySQL, it's very easy. Most users make that
in a few days at most. We have so many
discussion topics that you'll likely find something
you are interested in and reach your total before
you realize it. In any case, it is only 10 posts
to actually get an account and you can add the
MySQL a few days later.

Incidentally, MySQL isn't the only upgrade ...
there is actually a whole list of upgrades you
can get depending on your qualifying post
count. Most of our users love it and tell us
that quite often.

I hope that answers the questions you have been
debating in this topic. If you have any more questions,
feel free to stop by and visit us.

Hmm, I love AMZ's short posts :D :D

No, it's true, I'm hosted there too.
If you spam somewhere (even it's not real spamming, but a bit senseless or off topic) your post immediately be deleted, and your post count goes down. So you can't get 75 posts by only spamming

Something that is lesser known is we also do the
reverse as well ..... when we notice users that
consistently make good detailed posts that are
right on topic and contribute something to the
forum, we generally give them a boost in
their post count as a reward.

In example, one of our users received 100 extra points
added to his post count last night.. Probably hasn't
even noticed yet *LOL*

Hi amz,

That sounds like an interesting idea, but what are you getting out of it? Besides greater transfer consumption, of course. :D

Also, could you tell me what all the upgrades are? I've found this so far:

10 = basic hosting
20 = domain hosting
75 = MySQL

Do you have something like: "150 = SSH", lol! :D

Actually all of the above is wrong. You now need 10
posts to open a hosting account irregardless as to
whether it is USER or DOMAIN based.

MySQL now only requires 50 posts.

For a complete list of the various posting upgrade
rewards, see the post on our site at:

http://www.amzweb.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=574

SSH (SSL Encryption) is included from the beginning
if you have DOMAIN account.
