Team Fortress 2 is free now. Fun and pretty unique FPS. It's a great game. I bought it around when it came out, and it was definitely worth it then. They made it free earlier this year. I still play it occasionally.
Alien Swarm is free. It's another game on Steam (and also by Valve). Isometric view cooperative shooter. Pretty fun for a while.
Heroes of Newerth is "free" now I think. It's a DOTA clone, and probably the best one out. Most of my DOTA-addicted friends switched to HoN when it came out. There's some restrictions as far as I know, but it's pretty good.
Those are listed in order of my favorites to least favorites.
