They're not accepting new accounts, unless you're a regular at their boards.
I know the URL of signing up though, I won't tell it as I don't want it to end up like Whatever Hosting... Sorry.

I wouldn't use mp3's because of all the controversy and limited host acceptance. Instead, I'd convert them to a special wav that's actually smaller than a mp3 via Goldwave (free). There are several options to "save as"...You may be surprised at what you can accomplish (for example wav GSM 6.10)...and most hosts will accept wav's without question.

I think babelfish has a slanguage converter :D

You'll get a bad sounding wav file if you do that.

There is also a codec named ACM.
It uses the same coding instructions as MP3 but the format is .wav

you might want to try that..

why

why does everybody think the MP3 file format is illegal to use? It's making copies of copyrighted songs and giving them away for free that's illegal.

Saying the mp3 format is illegal is like saying that the zip format is illegal because some people use it to compress warez with. Makes no sence!

Yeah...and I'm the Pope. ROTFLMAO

Just goes to show...

My converted wav's sound GREAT!

...You just have to know what you're doing...I just converted a 84kb sound effect to 9kb without any noticable loss :D

i can covert a 75mb wav file into a 565kb mp3 file,.. and then convert that into a 254kd ram file,.. lol,.

Forum tag?

lol...I just posted in your other subject ROTFLMAO

Like I said there...Most don't have that lame realmedia...but I see it's now included in AOL and Wal-mart ISP's...(same thing)

...but that's really good from 75mb to 254kb...How's it sound?

I'm only using the Goldwave (free) editor for short sound effects and quotes so I don't have the program...but I have an idea!

Try converting your 254kb ram file now back into a wav or mp3 so all can hear it!

Oh...wait...That's what you just did I think...heh heh!

:D

I don't think anyone here said that MP3, the format, is illegal. Distributing anything you don't have permission to is illegal, regardless of what it is or how it's compressed.

Really? I was under the impression that virtually the entire planet had RealPlayer.

I have realplayer (it's a big clunker)...but only because it came with my Wal-mart (AOL) ISP and it's needed to open it without a prompt.

Winamp is the #1 player I thought...but if I'm wrong (it's happened before ;) ), maybe I'll consider realplayer seeing as I already have it.

Question: If I did use ram files, would the lame player try to pop up and play it...or could I call on the file without the player popping up and just have the sound effect play?

Thanks :D

Um...... LEGAL MP3s? I wasn't aware there WAS such a thing! LOL ;)
Of course there is such a thing. It's the abuse of MP3s that got people to think that they're illegal, and while most MP3s are illegal, MP3s in general is not.

i just used GoldWave quite good converted a 5mb mp3 file into a 1mb wav file. with no lost sound effects.
