Windows has paid license. Moreover that is less competitive then linux web hosts, so that allow them keep their prices high.

However, hosts are finding ways to manage these costs and offer Windows hosting plans for close to the prices of Linux hosting plans. So you are going to see Windows hosting costs continue to decrease, to the point that they are on the same level as Linux plans across the board.

Not quite. Server security is taken very seriously whether the system is Linux or Windows. This is one thing that hosting companies spend the same amount of time on.

However, from the host's standpoint: managing permissions in Linux can be easier, as it gives you more granularity. It may be too easy for an inexperienced server tech to inadvertently give too much permission to a user on a Windows server. (But who hires unknowledgeable techs?)

How? Both can be infected, Windows actually takes less to secure it, since it has it's own security stuff installed. Afterall, most hosts run something like ClamAV in the background with cPanel on Linux.

That is still not true. Any server needs to be protected with the same rigid procedures. If you are not properly protecting your Linux servers because you think they are invincible, that is crazy!

virus scanning in windows servers is to avoid the virus to damage the OS.
virus scanning in linux system is to avoid those windows users who using the server to infected by the virus, this is y i said the time spent for windows servers is more...

Linux is open but windows need licence its expensive also all the MS product like mssql,mysql,asp, asp.net will cost for them. And also widows support all type of script and sw. But linux is better for PHP and myql and not supporting mssql.
