What features would you want in a paid hosting account, that would cost $8.25 a month. Like post reasonable things that could be viable, not stuff like 50GB Space, 200GB Transfer.

- Subdomains

For that I would be prepared to pay $25+ per month...
 
For $8.25, I'd expect somewhere around 75MB/3GB at most. I'm not gonna bother with other things because they don't reallly add to the cost.

Now, on the other hand, if we're talking Cogent bandwidth, then I'd say I'd expect a good 10-15 gigs for that price.

No not $8.95, it is $8.25.
The transfer limit may be upped to say 15-20GB, max of maybe 30, and i will tell you all when it is open. Now another thing you can help me decide with is how much per month for extra space and transfer, extra space will be in 50MB blocks, transfer in 1GB units.
 
Again, what kind of bandwidth are we talking here?

If Cogent, I wouldn't charge more than $1 per gig.

If it's muti-homed, anywhere from $3-5 per gig is reasonable.

About disk space, I always thought 10&cent per MB was reasonable.
 
Well i think i will charge somewhere around $3 per GB for transfer, and maybe around 10 cents per MB for extra space.

I pay $9.95/mo for 400MB space, 15GB bandwidth, unlimited ftp accounts, unlimited mysql users and databases, sub-domains, perl, php, CPanel 4, and all the other good stuff except ASP (I dont know how to use it anyways), so I think that I would pay about 10-15/mo for that other deal, but more bandwidth and mysql accounts.

It depends on what the server specs are. 10 accounts pulling 50gb's of traffic a month will kill an amd 1ghz/p3 1ghz.

Yeah but how many people will actually use 50GB Transfer.
 
You have to be prepared for people using that, or raise the price. You can't offer that much transfer and then have 100 accounts per server. What happends if each user uses 20gb's each? You would be overselling alot with those stats, and especially non cogent line.
 
who will be providing the servers ??

the only dedicated server rendor who is cheap enough and doesn't use cogent is

webreseller.net

DV2 use cogent along with others

Rackshack use Willams , cogent , verio , savvis , eli , time warner
