Sent after the AltaVista email... hmmmm....

Subject: SearchTraffic.com - Term Changes and Updates

Dear SearchTraffic affiliates:

First let me wish you all a happy new year and pass on our wishes for a healthy and prosperous
2001.

Now on to some important news:

1) We have introduced "themed" search boxes that contain TEXT LINK searches! These boxes pull in
huge amounts of searches and you get paid the same rate as if the surfer had typed in a term and
pressed the "submit" button.
Free Stuff
Games
Sports
Webmaster
and many other themed boxes are ready for you. Just log on to your stats page at
http://www.searchtraffic.com/checkStats.html and click on the "Your Linking Codes" link.
We also added a handy "Search Box Wizard" to make custom search boxes for you in any size or color
you like.

2) Starting January 15, 2001 all pre-entered terms must return a bidded result of AT LEAST $0.10
(ten cents).
-This has no effect on any terms the surfers enter themselves.
-It is only applicable if you wish to pre-enter a term in the search box you place on your site.
-Please do a search on any terms you wish to pre-enter and make sure the bidded result is .10 or
higher.
-If you are using pre-entered terms that may be of seasonal value or faddish ("Halloween",
"Pokemon", etc.) please check regularly to be sure the bid on these terms remains above .10.

Keep in mind that small changes in the terms can make big changes in the bidded price.
Computer
Computers
Compaq Computer
All return very different results. See what comes up with the highest bidded listing and use that.

As you are well aware the internet advertising market is tightening up. Many companies are
closing, changing to a second page click payout, or lowering payouts altogether. SearchTraffic is
committed to not only maintaining our high payout rates, but to giving our affiliates new tools
(like our themed, text link search boxes) to help you increase the income generated by your
website.

SearchTraffic was the first independent search affiliate program and it remains the leader today.
This minor change will keep the program's high payouts in place by assuring good, valid results for
you, the surfer, and our search engine partners.

3) Our PopUpTraffic program has introduced PopBehinds at a great $2.00 CPM rate! With this
program you can now place on your site the standard PopUp window ( $3.00 CPM) or the new PopBehind
(or both!). Many new websites have sprung up copying our idea for PopUpTraffic. But they all have
some type of "catch." Most used multiple windows, time delayed windows, or popups that spawn
countless other popups.
PopUpTraffic's windows are small, fast loading, and NEVER spawn other windows.
http://www.popuptraffic.com has all the details.

Bit odd, eh? AltaVista lowers payments then Standard Internet respond in under 6 hours! Oh well still sounds like a good program!

Good observation.

Altavista went down to .01 and we said "Hey, nows the time for us to keep our payout at .05 exactly where its always been!"

Anyone who uses an AltaVista box and accepts .01 per search is not the shartpest knife in the drawer...

IMHO ;)

Robert, you get most of your searchtraffic.com income from the money returned on pre bidded search terms right, it seems that way in the email I recieved today ? also Halloween as a 0.89c return : )

Yes, they recieve a percentage of the bidded result so if the minimum is 10c they'd want at least 7c, 6c for the user 1c for themselves. That's 70%!

So if the top search result is 80c, they'll make 56c!

Assuming they click the top link, which could be hazadous... why not do what http://www.search123.com do? and offer a percentage of what's actually made so we can enter any terms?

Thanks for the compliment ;)

You did once offer 6c for webmasters who asked, then removed it when searchbucks.com stopped taking applications. Has it returned?

Supermoo,

You don't know what our deals are with our partner search engines. :)

The revenue share programs are paying you on a 2nd page click thru. Apples and oranges. They should be paying you a bunch more than we do. You're taking all the risk.

Everyone looks at terms like "casino" and "web hosting" and sees big bids. Go look at http://www.excite.com/search/voyeur/
and see what people really search on. Let me know how long it takes for you to see "casino" or something similar come up. :)

What I'd like to know is why are the rev share engines only paying 50% (I know 7Search pays 63%)? The webmaster is taking all the risk. They are sending free traffic (that the search engine is selling high CPM targeted banner ads on). The search engine is making money no matter what, the affiliate is only getting 50% IF the person searches on a bidded term and IF they click thru to the next site. Lotsa "ifs"....

Yeah you guys rule! Don't get me wrong there! :)

Except I have all pre-entered terms and that's where the bulk of my income comes and now I'm forced to remove some of the okay ones bringing in 8c... to something that people will still click on but probaly not click through, just seems like a bad move.

I don't blame it on your part, it just annoys me. But obviously Standard Internet does nicely out of it! ;)

So do you still make money on a click-thru aswell?
